Tips from the Pros

When hiring a musician/entertainer make sure to plan ahead and allow adequate preparation time. If you have special requests for songs or music style communicate that to your co-ordinator. With adequate preparation time most musicians can find the music, learn your special songs, and put a great program together suited to your tastes. Good entertainment will add wonderful memories to your special day. - Jan Shima

Choose your Master of Ceremonies wisely, because ultimately he is the one who can help you create a party that's memorable in a good way or GREAT way. After all, you can have the most colorful, best decorated reception, but if the program you create is average and ordinary (some may even say "boring"), that's the kind of experience and impression you give to your audience at the end of the night. - Marino M .Regalado - Hawaii Wedding Emcee, Ninja Entertainment

When selecting your DJ make sure you talk with the specific DJ that will be assigned to your reception. Select your DJ much like you would your photographer and focus on their style & personality. - Troy Michael DJ Entertainment

One of the first things you want to do when starting your planning is to work on a budget. By taking this time you can define what venue(s) and vendors that will be most suitable for you. Secondly, just have fun! - Dianna Shitanishi - Hawaii Weddings and Events

Bridal tips, courtesy Sarah Chang, from Wanna Hula?:

  • Bridal Tip 1: Get it in writing. Although it is common to make verbal contracts in Hawaii, ask for a written contract and provide a minimum 50% deposit for your entertainment. This will guarantee that your special date is booked.
  • Bridal Tip 2: Smile. When performing your wedding hula, keep smiling and always retain your composure. You'll have your family and guests wondering why you've never shown them your hidden talent before.
  • Bridal Tip 3: Enjoy your self. This is YOUR day!

It's very important that you take time and carefully select the flowers that you appreciate the most. By doing so, the positive energy will create an aura of happiness around you. The floral designer can create the arrangements to compliment you and provide a lasting impression on your wedding day. - Emi Hanamizu - Emi's Flowers and Gifts

Let it go and it will show!!! What does that mean? They say it’s the biggest day of your life, that’s enough to stress you out alone, not to mention the planning and money that goes into it all…You want everything to be perfect and when one little thing isn’t (that one hair won’t go where it’s supposed to) many brides will stress over it; however if you let it go it will show! Be yourself and have fun, don’t let the stresses of the day get to you, keep in mind that you have the best thing waiting for you at the end of the aisle and he or she loves you for you (hair out of place and all) and that LOVE is what you want to capture in your images- So Let it go and it will show-LOVE! - Cassandra Dieterle Photography
